Before I ever mixed a record, I was on the other side of the glass performing, writing, and recording as a member of the R&B group Next Phaze. After too many rounds of mediocre mixes and that feeling of buyer’s remorse, I decided to take control of my sound. I dove headfirst into mixing, but always through the lens of a vocalist. I studied the craft, worked alongside industry pros in Los Angeles, and developed the skills to truly understand how to make vocals sit, breathe, and feel right in a mix… not just as another layer, but as the emotional core of the song.  And that’s where I developed my Vocal-First Mixing Philosophy.
